Festival of Ideas
Welcome to the Festival of Ideas.

“The context is chaos. We are a world brimming with conflict, impunity, inequality, and unpredictability." — António Guterres, UN Secretary-General

How best can we respond to catastrophe?

Tunbridge Wells Literary Festival is proud to present three separate but linked events, chaired by poet and public health professional Jess Mookherjee, exploring how writing can help us respond to and navigate our way in times of rupture—pandemic, climate collapse, war, colonial afterlives, domestic crisis—and explores ways in which we can take action to help us witness honestly and imagine and work towards positive, survivable futures.

12:30-13:45 - 'Witnessing Disaster' with Jason Strelitz, Dr Claire Cox and Dr Yousif M. Qasmiyeh.

14:00-15:30 - 'The Intimate Catastrophe' with Hanna Komar, Dr Jemma Borg, Janice Warman and Dr Claire Cox.

16:00-17:00 - 'New Narrative Forms' with Dr Claire Cox, Sarah Salway and Laura Baggaley.
